For the Yaoi-Con 2003 AMV Contest, we entered four anime music videos (AMVs): two of our older videos ("A Killer Smile" and "Coming Home"), and two brand new videos ("Mirages" and "Descent"). "Descent" took two awards at the con - "Audience Award: Best Drama" and "Judge's Award: Matching Theme".
Due to bandwidth restrictions, we are unable to share more than a few videos at a time, so if you would like to download a video that is currently unavailable (or a higher quality render), please contact kasra77 or SilverDilandau via AOL Instant Messenger. Alternatively, you can email us and arrange to have a cd with all of our AMVs mailed to you.
Note: This is really just a temp page for now, until Starherd has time to update the WTF Productions AMV page. When that happens, I will take this page down and redirect all links to that page.
Poor, poor Omi...
The song was just too perfect for our favorite angsty little assassin. The main challenge lay in finding enough good animation to make a decent-looking AMV without resorting to the really crappy outsourced stuff rife in most of the series.
We like to think it was a success :-)
This video was made over a period of about 4 months. It seems to be the average learning curve for a new video editing program.
Kasra says:
I am a shameless KenxOmi shipper. So why is this AMV mostly made up of Gluhen footage, when the two of them don't even see each other for the first 9 episodes of the series? Blame the crazy plot bunny that bit me back in December for planting the concept in my mind. Writing the fanfic alone wasn't enough, so I made an AMV out of it. I don't know how successful the idea was, but at the very least, I enjoyed making it.

Mirage of Blaze started coming out on DVD in the US this year, and we wanted to make a sort of advertisement video for it the way we did for Yami no Matsuei last year. Only the first two DVDs were out at the time, and though we considered using footage from raw downloaded episodes as well, we'm not sure if any actually made it into the video... :-P
Mirage of Blaze is a nifty series (from a series of novels, apparently) about, well, war and love surviving reincarnation. Feudal Japanese war and male/male love, in this case. :-)
It's animated by Madhouse, and is very, very pretty, and has a fairly complex plot (we keep making jokes about needing a flow-chart to keep the relationships straight, so to speak). We recommend it!
The song we chose (Teotihuacan, by Noel Gallagher, from the X-Files movie album) was 7 minutes long, but being a techno/dance type song without lyrics, we were able to pare it down into the 4-5 minute range without much trouble. There's a lot of rainy atmosphere in the song, which was what attracted us to it for Mirage of Blaze, which has a lot of rainy atmosphere (at least in the first couple of DVDs). The song also had the buildup we wanted. We even have a (nearly coherent) narrative for the video: Boy #1 likes Boy #2, but Boy #2 turns evil via possession; Boy #1 gets beat up trying to rescue Boy #2 until he meets Some Guy who Kicks Butt, whereupon they rescue Boy #2 and relationship-angst ensues.
In Starherd's words:
Yet another Yami no Matsuei video from WTF Productions. :-)
Believe it or not, this was what I (Starherd) wanted to make instead of the Possession video, but some of the footage I wanted (namely the opening w/out credits) wasn't available last year. This year, however, CPM (bless their hearts) put the creditless opening on the last DVD of the series (which they released as "Descendents of Darkness"). So I guess it all works out...
I adore this song, and have since the "Screen Behind the Mirror" album came out; it's easily my favorite Enigma song. I love its use of Carmina Burana and the climactic buildup (something I look for in songs for AMVs, I guess). For this Tsuzuki-centric video, I'm considering the song to be sung from Muraki's POV - I always thought that the song was about seduction and corruption, that sort of thing, so it *has* to be from Muraki's point of view. To summarize:
Muraki: Join me... together we will rule the galaxy...
Tsuzuki: Nooooooooooooo!
And... what's this? Partial lip-synching? Isn't that a no-no?
...Well, it's the scene that originally popped into my head and made me want to make the video, even though none of the rest of it seemed good for lip-synching. So I did it anyway. I'm darned proud of my Oriya lip-synching, too; best I've done to date. I'm usually pretty all-or-nothing with lip-synching, but there's always exceptions. :-)
